SiteGround Review: Free Magento Setup & Expert Support
SiteGround.com offers web hosting services since 2004. For its customers it has prepared an all inclusive package with unlimited space and traffic, PHP, MySQL 5, unlimited FTP connections and many other extras. SiteGround uses Xeon 3210 Kentsfield Quad Core 2.13 GHz with CentOS installed. It has a customized Apache web server for best speed and security.
We found it very convenient that we can choose between 7 different PHP versions in one hosting account. Developers and webmasters can choose exactly the version they need for their project or website. SiteGround offer free domain name with the package.
In regards to Magento SiteGround has prepared an own 1-click installer if customers want to do the installation alone. In their Magento hosting package they have included free Magento installation and setup.
SiteGround has a gallery with tutorial and video tutorial, and knowledge base articles, with a great amount of them dedicated to Magento. And if you still don’t have a theme for your website, you can check their Magento themes gallery.
Their support is trained to provide quick and reliable support for all web hosting related problems and for basic Magento issues. The technical team is available 24/7/365 through a ticketing system with the great average response time of 15 minutes. Unfortunately they don’t offer phone support, but we have tested the ticketing system and after we learned how to post a ticket, it all went very smoothly and we received very professional and extensive answers to all our questions.
We also tried the manual installation of Magento on their servers and are happy to report that we had no problems and didn’t need any of the Magento articles in their FAQ section.
Like some other providers they don’t have SSH access as default setting on their servers because of security reasons. If you still need it, you can order it for $24.95 per year. Both shared and private SSL certificates are available.
